Pompompurin Bagel Recipe

This is such a simple homemade bagel recipe. This bagel recipe only requires just a few ingredients. Here is how to make this Pompompurin peanut butter and banana bagel.

Ingredients:

I have attached links for some of the ingredients that I used below.

  • 300g Flour

  • 170g Lukewarm Water

  • 2.5g Instant Yeast

  • 15g Sugar

  • 4g Salt

  • 1000ml Water

  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar

Decoration:

Steps:

  1. Take your lukewarm water and add a pinch of sugar. Add instant yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  2. Add flour (remember to sieve your flour), sugar, salt, and water with instant yeast in a bowl, and stir until a dough forms.

  3. Cover the bowl, and wait for 20 minutes.

  4. After 20 minutes, knead for about 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth.

  5. Place the dough back in the bowl and proof for 1 hour or until the dough doubles in size.


    After an hour:

  6. Divide the dough into 6 portions. Each portion will be 80g.

  7. Knead the portions into a circle and proof for 15 minutes.

  8. After 15 minutes, sprinkle your table or pastry mat with a bit of flour. This is the pastry mat that I am using. Take a dough and your rolling pin and roll out your dough vertically. Rotate your dough horizontally. Take the top part of the dough and fold it to the middle.

  1. Take the bottom part of the dough and fold it to the middle. Seal in the dough, by pinching the seams where the top and bottom parts connect.

  1. Roll your dough vertically.

  2. Take your rolling pin and roll one of the ends flat.

  1. After, form a bagel shape. Place them on parchment paper. This is the parchment paper that I am using.

  1. Continue until all the bagels are made.

  2. After, proof your bagels for 45 minutes.

  3. Preheat the oven to 330F.

To add a tint of colour to the bagel:

  1. Add 1000 ml of water and 2 tbsp of brown sugar in a saucepan. Let it boil. Once it boils, change to low heat. Place your donuts into the pan and wait for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, flip the bagel to the other side and wait another 30 seconds. Take them out and place them on a tray with parchment paper. Continue until all your bagels are complete.

Time to bake:

  1. Bake your bagels for 20 minutes at 330F. I am using a countertop oven and this is the one that I am using.

  2. Let it cool.

Time to decorate:

  1. Cut your banana into slices.

  2. To draw Pompompurin on your banana slices, take melted dark chocolate and draw Pompompurin’s beret.

  3. After, draw a J and a mirrored J using dark chocolate. These will be Pompompurin’s ears.

  4. Now let’s draw 2 circles for the eyes, a line for the nose, and a w for the mouth. Connect the mouth and the nose with a line.

  1. Take one of your bagels and cut it in half. Give your bagel a toast.

  2. Evenly spread peanut butter.

  3. Place your Pompompurin banana slices however you’d like!
