Pusheen Tang Yuan Covered With Peanuts & Sugar
One of my favourite ways to enjoy tang yuan is actually not in soup but covered in peanuts & sugar. Here is a simple recipe to make these cute Pusheen tang yuan.
Ingredients:
I have attached links for some of the ingredients/items that I used below.
80g Glutinous Rice Flour
1 Tsp Black Sesame Powder
74g Water
50g Peanuts
20g Sugar
Decoration:
Steps:
Take your food processor or blender to crush your peanuts into granular sand.
Take your crushed peanuts and mix them with sugar. Evenly spread the mix onto your plate.
Mix glutinous rice flour and black sesame powder with 74g of water. The consistency should not be too dry, where it will crumble, but not too wet, where it will stick to your fingers.
Divide the glutinous rice balls into 10g and roll them into a ball.
To make Pusheen, take a chopstick and gently create an indent in the middle of your glutinous rice ball.
Now that the indent in the middle has been made, we can now create Pusheen’s ears. To make the ears, we have to shape them into triangles. Afterwards, you can also shape out Pusheen’s face by making it rounder/ flatter if you’d like. The video below shows this process.
Turn your stove to high heat.
Once the water starts boiling, turn your stove to low heat. Slowly add in your tang yuans. Once they float, they are fully cooked.
One by one, drip off any excess water of your tang yuan and then place it on top of your peanut/sugar mix. You can place them however you’d like.
Melt dark chocolate and draw in Pusheen’s whiskers, eyes, nose, mouth, and stripes.
Your Pusheen tang yuans covered in peanuts & sugar are ready to be served. This chewy, sweet, and cute snack is a must-try at home!
